For as long as Moosewood Restaurant has been in business, we’ve been blessed to have fresh, locally grown produce and food products available for our menu. We’re happy to see the number of other restaurants and food services that are sourcing the beautiful, pure, healthful ingredients that are abundant and grown with pride and care right in our local region. A great resource for Moosewood menu planners is Finger Lakes Organic Growers Cooperative (“FLO”). We get a product list showing what’s available and order for convenient delivery right to the restaurant. You can imagine how many cases of vegetables and herbs we go through here, and the availability of gorgeous, organic heirloom, and unusual varieties inspire our ever-changing seasonally designed menus.
We live in a beautiful region that also has hydroponically grown greens and herbs in all seasons, root vegetables late into the fall, and Dan, our produce man, who delivers to us throughout the week and knows how to shop wisely for us at the Syracuse markets all year round. We are so grateful to have so much fabulous fresh food available for our customers; it’s the backbone of our cuisine.
